Help us preserve the history of the Bo’ness Fair!
Researchers from the University of Glasgow have been working with the Bo’ness community for a number of years, exploring the history, traditions and importance of the Bo’ness Children’s Fair Festival. We’re now working with the community to explore how the Fair’s rich heritage can be preserved for future generations through a community-led archive.
Join us at the Bo’ness Hippodrome on Tuesday 15 September, from 6:30 – 8:30pm, for a special community event where we’ll share some of our research and what we’ve learned so far, hear about the materials uncovered through our latest project, and enjoy a short snippet from the Fair Day 2026 film.
We’d also love your help! If you have any materials connected to the Fair – old or new – please bring them along, or bring a list or photos of what you have. This might include photographs, programmes, tickets, letters, newspaper cuttings, videos, recordings, documents, scrapbooks or other Fair-related items. You might have something important without even realising it!
